The purpose of the GiveBig Privacy Policy is to inform you of how GiveBig uses and collects the personal information you choose to submit to GiveBig via the GiveBig Cause Request Form, as well as to inform you as to how GiveBig protects your privacy.
Please be advised that your participation in GiveBig indicates your acceptance of the GiveBig Privacy Policy as well as the
MadeBig Privacy Policy. Also, please note that either Privacy Policy may be updated at any time without notice to you. We strongly encourage you to review this policy often in order to understand the most current policies.
EditInformation Collected and How It Is Used
When a Cause Request is submitted to GiveBig, specific information is required on the GiveBig Cause Request Form including: the e-mail address of the MadeBig member who is sponsoring the Request (if it is not yourself), your name, your address (including street, city, state, postal code and country) as well as your telephone number. You are also required to provide information regarding the reasons you are requesting assistance and what specifically you need; however, these fields are open so that you may enter as little or as much information as you feel comfortable with.
By submitting a Cause Request to GiveBig, you are indicating your agreement: that, if selected, your Cause will be featured on the GiveBig landing page (which is open to be viewed by the public); to display your name, city and state on your Cause page; that, if selected, your Cause will be included in GiveBig and/or MadeBig marketing materials; that when your Cause is approved by GiveBig, your Cause will be included in The Nation GivesBig feeds located on the GiveBig landing page and MadeBig landing page; and that, once your Pledge goal is met, your Cause and contact information will be provided to the Grant Wishes Foundation (a partner of MadeBig) in order to have your Cause fulfilled.
Please be advised that your complete contact information will never be distributed to any third-party except the administration staff at the Grant Wishes Foundation. This information is given to the Grant Wishes Foundation so that you may be provided any service and/or items requested through your Cause.
If you are participating in GiveBig by giving Pledges of Support, you are required to be a MadeBig member and agree to adhere to the
Privacy Policy outlined on the MadeBig site. Please refer to the
MadeBig Privacy Policy for an explanation of the information gathered and how it is used on the MadeBig Site.
By giving Pledges of Support to a Cause, you are agreeing that your name and Profile image will appear on the Cause page as well as the GiveBig landing page, if the Cause is selected to be featured. Please note that the GiveBig landing page is open to the public; however, your Profile page (accessed by clicking on your Profile image or name) is not available to anyone other than MadeBig members. You may control your privacy options for your Profile in My Account. Also, please be advised that by giving Pledges of Support to a Cause, your name and the number of Pledges that you gave will appear in The Nation GivesBig feeds located on the GiveBig landing page, which is open and viewable to the public. This activity will also populate in your MadeBig User and Social Feeds.
EditSharing Your Information with Third Parties
Please be advised that GiveBig uses the information you provide, either through a Cause Request Form or by participation in GiveBig, for research purposes, including demographics. Any information you provide may be used in aggregate form for further marketing purposes. It is possible that GiveBig will provide certain information, such as general demographics, to third parties, but we will never share identifiable information with others without your consent.
We share your information with third parties only in limited circumstances where we believe such sharing is 1) reasonably necessary to offer the service, 2) legally required or 3) permitted by you.

GiveBig may contain links and/or advertisements to other Web sites. GiveBig is not responsible for the privacy practices of these other Web sites. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected by GiveBig. We strongly encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of each and every Web site that collects personally identifiable information.

GiveBig has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. The servers for the site are stored in a physically secured and climate controlled off-site facility. Beyond the physical protection of the servers, we protect against data loss by regularly backing up data, performing consistency checks with independently recorded log files to prevent tampering and restricting access to information on our servers via several user authentication technologies. All personally identifiable information transmitted to GiveBig is transferred through our secure servers using the latest web security technology. GiveBig will make every effort to protect the quality and integrity of personally identifiable information. Members and participants are solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of their passwords and/or any other account information.
